Hello, practice people!
This week we are talking about rejection. Oof! Even reading that word might make you wince.
Rejection is so uncomfortable (and dangerous in some situations) that many people avoid it at all costs. They stay quiet, avoid trying new things, and put off going after their ideas. But by keeping yourself small you're rejecting yourself before anyone else can. Speaking from experience, this never leads to satisfaction—and it doesn't actually keep you safe.
Here's the bittersweet truth. The more you pursue your ideas and desires—the more you experiment, innovate, and achieve—the more rejection you will face.
You are a brilliant, creative visionary who has amazing ideas that are worth pursuing. So how can you get past your fear and make peace with rejection?

How to Get Over Your Fear of Rejection:
1. What are you afraid of?
Get familiar with your fear. Ask your inner scaredy-cat some questions: What are you afraid will happen? What is the worst case scenario? Write it down. Your fears are scarier in your head than they are on paper. You can burn the paper when you're done. Send those fears straight to H3LL!
2. Keep the stakes low (at first)
Ask a friend to help you build your tolerance for rejection. Role play getting turned down for a date or project proposal. Practice asking them for something and then being told no. Pay attention to your disappointment and also the fact that you didn't burst into flames.
3. Celebrate your efforts
Celebrate being rejected? Yes, we're for real! Reward yourself for trying, regardless of your success or failure. Celebrate that you challenged yourself. Celebrate that you're still here and you will keep making your art anyway.
