Hello, practice people!

We're busy getting ready for Dylan Cale Jone's new art show! It's called We All Live Together, and it opens on Friday, November 14th at Oscillator Press in Norman, OK. 6-9pm!

Here's what Dylan says about their new work:

We All Live Together–my emerging series of drawings and ceramics–depicts dense, ambiguous crowds of people. Without any explicit context, viewers are welcome to imagine why these people come together. They could be commuters, protestors, spectators, festival-goers, or evacuees.
Dylan Cale Jones holds their drawing of a crowd of people in red and black.
The phrase “We All Live Together” came to me in 2017. I was in Chicago, living in a densely populated neighborhood, and rode public transportation every day. I was shoulder-to-shoulder and belly-to-belly with other people all the time, and became acutely aware of my entanglement with my neighbors. It was also the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency, which highlighted the power of collective action (and inaction).
This phrase took on deeper significance for me in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. I realized that our togetherness is also global: we all breathe the same air. Later that year, the Black Lives Matter movement demanded that we transform and re-imagine the way we live together–from the way we remember our past, to the money we invest in our government. Beyond 2020, cascading global events continue to demonstrate the stakes of our inter-connectedness. These drawings attempt to capture the tension of those moments of togetherness, in all their complexity.
We're really excited about the show and we hope to see you next Friday!

Bring a shirt to the opening and get it printed with Dylan's design! Can't make it to the exhibition? Hang tight--Oscillator will have shirts for sale online after the reception.
We'll be back in 2 weeks.

Until then, keep practicing!
