Hello Friends! Welcome back to Practice Practice.
We're in the final stretch of 2024, and you're probably feeling the burn(out). Did you know that creative block is a common symptom of burnout? If your ideas have run dry and your motivation is nowhere to be found, give yourself some grace. You might be burnt out.
Its normal to get burnt out during this time of year. You've been juggling work stuff, holiday stress, everyday chores and your creative practice. It can be hard to catch your breath. But burnout is not a personal shortcoming. It happens to everyone.

How can you recover from burnout? The key is to reintroduce rest in your routine wherever you can. Even if it is just 5 minutes (seriously!). You have to SLOOOOW DOOOOOWN.

Slow Practice:
When you're burnt out, it can be difficult to even imagine how to slow down. In our workbook, we recommend several ways to slow down.
- Take a 15 minute nap. Set a timer, lay down and close your eyes. You don't even have to fall asleep.
- Pause before your speak, especially when someone asks you a question. Choose your words carefully. This makes some people uncomfortable, and that's okay. Don't rush your words.
- Tune into your senses. Notice 5 things you see, 5 sounds you hear, 5 sensations in your body.
- Slow walk. Walk around your block as slowly as you possibly can. What do you notice?
- Look at the sky. Find a cloud floating by. Watch it until you can't see it anymore.

We hope you find abundant space for rest as this year comes to a close. Thanks for reading. We'll be back in 2 weeks.

Until then, keep practicing!
