Hello, practice pythons!

This summer, we're trying something new! We're going to highlight artists and art organizations we have major crushes on. We think they are so cool, we just can't stop talking about them! Our first featured crush is Wasted Ink Zine Distro in Phoenix, AZ.
Interior of the Wasted Ink Zine Distro storefront
Wasted Ink (or WIZD, for short) is a self-publishing hub that includes a store front, printing studio, zine library, and workshop spaces. They house hundreds of zines and serve as a home base for Arizona zinesters. Not living in the southwest? They also have an online store, where you can purchase zines from their library!
We love WIZD because they prioritize community and accessibility. Anyone who makes zines can become part of their zine library and store. If you've never made a zine before, they offer free and low-cost self-publishing workshops!

WIZD is dedicated to uplifting voices of historically marginalized creators who are Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, disabled, chronically ill, or neurodivergent.

Last, but not least, we love zines! Zines are self-determined, low-cost, subversive, and accessible means to express ideas and share information.

Zine practice:

This week: Support another artist by reading a zine!

Don't have any zines? You can order one from WIZD! Or see if you can find one in the wild at your local library, DIY venue, or bookstore.
